Spouse Teachers Appeal to the Basic Education Minister for Inter-District Transfers
Representatives of the Spouse Teachers Association met the Hon'ble Basic Education Minister to raise the long-pending issue of inter-district transfers for spouse teachers working under the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Council. During the meeting, the delegation explained that thousands of married teachers are currently posted in different districts from their spouses. This separation has resulted in serious family, social, and psychological challenges, making it difficult for teachers to maintain a healthy work-life balance while fulfilling their professional responsibilities. The association requested the minister to introduce a practical and transparent transfer policy that allows husband and wife to be posted in the same district whenever possible. According to the delegation, such a policy would strengthen family stability, improve teachers' mental well-being, increase work efficiency, and ultimately benefit students through better educational outcomes. The minister listened to the concerns raised by the delegation and was requested to ensure that the issue is addressed through a fair and effective transfer policy in the interest of thousands of spouse teachers across Uttar Pradesh. The Spouse Teachers Association expressed hope that the government will take a positive and timely decision, providing long-awaited relief to married teachers serving in different districts.
