Bahraich Unit Submits Representation for Inter-District Transfer of Spouse Teachers
The Bahraich District Unit of the Spouse Teachers Association, Uttar Pradesh, submitted a formal representation to the Hon'ble Additional Chief Secretary, Basic Education Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh, through the District Basic Education Officer, Bahraich. The representation concerns the long-standing issue of inter-district transfers for spouse teachers serving under the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Council. The association explained that many assistant teachers have been serving in the Basic Education Council for nearly a decade, while their spouses are employed in different districts under the Basic Education Department or other government services. Being posted in separate districts has resulted in family imbalance, mental stress, and numerous social challenges, which also negatively affect teachers' efficiency and the overall quality of education. The memorandum further noted that although the Government of Uttar Pradesh has issued directions from time to time to facilitate the posting of spouse teachers in the same district, the absence of a clear, stable, and practical transfer policy has prevented teachers from receiving the intended benefits. The Bahraich unit requested the authorities to consider the issue sympathetically and introduce an effective inter-district transfer policy that enables eligible spouse teachers to be posted together, ensuring family stability, improved well-being, and better educational outcomes. The association expressed confidence that timely action by the government would provide long-awaited relief to thousands of spouse teachers and their families across Uttar Pradesh.
