Bahraich District Unit Requests Inter-District Transfer Policy for Spouse Teachers

Bahraich District Unit Requests Inter-District Transfer Policy for Spouse Teachers

The Bahraich District Unit of the Spouse Teachers Association, Uttar Pradesh, submitted a formal representation to the Additional Chief Secretary, Basic Education Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh, through the District Basic Education Officer, Bahraich. The memorandum highlights the long-standing difficulties faced by spouse teachers working under the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Council who are posted in different districts from their husbands or wives. According to the representation, many assistant teachers have been serving for nearly a decade while their spouses are employed in other districts under the Basic Education Department or various government departments. This separation has resulted in family instability, mental stress, and social challenges that negatively impact teachers' efficiency and the quality of education. The association noted that although the government has issued instructions from time to time to facilitate the posting of spouse teachers in the same district, the absence of a clear and permanent transfer policy has prevented the intended benefits from reaching teachers. The district unit appealed to the state government to consider the matter sympathetically and introduce a transparent, practical, and permanent inter-district transfer policy so that eligible spouse teachers can serve together, strengthening family life while improving professional performance and educational outcomes.
